Compared to the heroic ‘Direct Action" Baloch groups and outfits who represent the inspirations of the overwhelming majority of the Baloch Nation, the so-called ‘parliamentarian nationalists’ of Pakistan-occupied Baloch lands are divided into three political parties:

1) The National Party headed by Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch,
2) the remnants of the Jamhoori Watan Party, and
3) BNP-Mengal of Sardar Akhtar Mengal.

The BNP, baptized by Sardar Ataullah Mengal and headed by his son Sardar Akhtar Mengal, has the lowest credit with the Baloch voters, particularly in the most-populated Baloch constituencies of the southwest and northeast of Pakistan-Occupied Balochistan … and also with the non-toady intellectuals and activists in general. (In the middle, the BNP is faced with the tough competition of the pro-PPP and pro-Muslim League sardars. Also, the NP has been making significant headways in this belt. )

However as for as the Ruling Establishment as well as the Establishment-approved ‘Opposition’: ML-N, PTI, JI, etc. are concerned — — and for obvious reasons — –, the BNP-Mengal is the most trusted ‘Baloch’ ‘Nationalist’, Party to do business with.

By hook or crook, both wings of the Establishment (the ruling wing including the Supreme Court as well as the Establishment ‘Opposition’) want the BNP-Mengal to win enough seats to make Akhtar Mengal again Chief Minister of a coalition provincial cabinet

Akhtar Mengal’s dramatic Islamabad visit facilitated by the Supreme Court Of Pakistan and …. and propagated so ‘generously’ by the Establishment media is simply an effort to up the graph of the BNP-Mengal for the upcoming elections in Balochistan.
